Women generally have a secondary role in Myanmar society and their participation regarding decision-making roles is also typically limited in the governance structure of Government Departments, political parties and other Institutions. Women’s participation in governance in all sectors needs to increase. YCT has intervened to increasing women’s representation in policy-makings, and decision-makings at all different levels by providing series of trainings, and workshops and advocating different stake holders to develop policies which are most effective for increasing women’s participation in governance. Link with gender equality program, YCT has implemented the governance program for equal participation of women in formal and informal political and decision-making, and on oversight mechanism at all levels of governance structure. Civic engagement, leadership, community empowerment, and rule of law training programs are implementing under governance program.
